The University of Worcester is one of the latest universities to use StREAM to support the engagement, retention and wellbeing of its pre-registration nursing students and midwives.
The University has been educating nurses and midwives for more than 25 years who go on to make an outstanding contribution to the communities they serve. So, we feel privileged to be working with such a respected institution to help deliver on their goals to increase support and meet the needs of their growing student population.
Throughout the pandemic, new strategies were put in place to expand the support available to nursing students at Worcester, Solutionpath’s student engagement analytics platform, StREAM, is considered a vital tool to help. With StREAM, the University can now more easily identify those students who are disengaging in their studies, at risk of potentially withdrawing and offer earlier and more targeted interventions with the aim to enable every student to reach their full potential.
Jenny Pinfield, Principal Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Worcester, said:
“StREAM is another vital tool in our toolkit – it can help us offer that crucial support to students and help us recognise if there are any issues and enable us to act swiftly.”
Student engagement is turned from what can be complex data into simple visuals via an easy to use dashboard, which academic staff can quickly view as a snapshot of their students’ engagement at a cohort, course or individual level. Enabling more informed conversations between students and academic staff using in the moment insight into a student’s participation in their studies.
“The University of Worcester is providing a unique approach to understanding student engagement and will be able to easily identify students most ‘at-risk’. StREAM will allow the University to spot early warning signs so they can respond quickly and improve the student journey.”
Elaine Swift, Head of Digital Learning and Teaching at the University of Worcester.
The system went live at the start of March 2022, initial student feedback has been positive and staff have found the system very easy to navigate. We’re excited to be on this journey and to help the University make a difference to its student experience.
