Leeds City Region is a thriving, exciting hotspot for growing tech companies, especially as it is such a cost effective and business friendly area to work. With a diverse economy that allows a range of businesses to thrive, we are extremely proud to call this area of the UK our home.
This month we were grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate this wonderful region at the Tech Climbers 2022 celebration held at Nexus, based on the University of Leeds campus. Not only was it wonderful to see so many brilliant, talented, and passionate individuals coming to celebrate the tech business making a difference in the industry, but we also made it into the Top 20 Tech Climbers list!
Our mission to develop solutions to help every student realise their full potential and empower their institutions to deliver great individualised learning drives all that we do, so it is wonderful to see that the hard work and dedication to positively support the higher education sector is being noticed and celebrated.
The Tech Climber award is a regional list showcasing the top performing, IP rich, product led technology businesses in various UK regions. This year, Leeds City Region has been recognised for its scaling tech businesses in the UK.
The criteria companies were judged by was on Impact, Innovation, and Investment. This meant judges were looking at:
This award is a great opportunity for the Leeds City Region to present the data-led picture of the tech industry, highlighting to the rest of the UK the amazing the huge advancements being made in this area.
Leeds has been named as the best place in the UK to start a business, coming ahead of London and Manchester and for good reason. It is a thriving city for start-ups and the technology sector continues to grow, with Channel 4 making its home in the region. Research backs this up, with key statistics found that Leeds has an active business population of 30,185, a population of 798,800 and a business survival rate of 42.9%. Leeds also has a range of universities such as Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Trinity University which means there is a wealth of young talent that is choosing to make Leeds their home after they graduate.
It is truly great to be recognised alongside so many tech companies in the Leeds area and help showcase the incredible technology opportunities available in the region. Not only does this award highlight the progression and strong potential of our company, but we are also proud to be acknowledged as a company using tech for good, creating a positive impact in the edtech industry.
